Great Garden Experiment: DIY Seed Tapes

Planting small seeds has always been trouble for me.  I am terrible at thinning my veggies once they get growing.  I hate to throw out a good thing…. But if you don’t thin the seeds you won’t get a good product.  That I know all too well! So to eliminate the need for thinning the little seeds I made these seed tapes.  I have seen them on a few blogs and because of my … [Read more...]

Grandma’s Baby Blocks

Grandma’s Baby Blocks

I had a crafty idea up my sleeve for my mom’s Christmas present. I call them baby blocks. I hosted a cousin sleep over party over the Christmas break and had all the local cousins spend the night and do a craft for grandma. Each child brought a newborn picture of themselves and their favorite color of acrylic paint.  I cut a 2x4 in to square blocks (or semi-square, with my dinky … [Read more...]

Easy Budget Friendly Christmas Gifts: Magnetic Nativity

This is a simple project you could do with your kids. Supplies: -Magnetic sheets (I found these at most craft stores) -Modge podge -Nativity stickers (I had a hard time finding them initially. I ended up buying them off of Oriental Trading) This crafty gift is pretty much self explanatory. Take your stickers place them closely together on the magnetic sheet and then before you cut them out, … [Read more...]

Upcycled Baby Dress to Toddler Skirt Tutorial

I found this cute dress at the Other Mother’s quarter sale. I thought I could make it into a skirt due to stains on the top. It was a quick and simple fix. Stained Baby Dress I trimmed about an inch and a half above the skirt and then turned the fabric under making a waistband, then stitched around to complete it. I used the bottom button of the dress for the waistband in the skirt. Trimmed … [Read more...]

Tutorial UPCYCLED: Baby Overalls and Women’s Shirt into Toddler Dress

I have been wanting to try out this project for a while and finally got around to it. Lil’Miss had these bum overalls that never stayed snapped. I decided rather than pass on a bad pair of overalls to someone else or throwing them out, I would made a new outfit. Originally I wanted to use these two children’s shirts. It turns out that the diameter was only slightly larger than the overalls … [Read more...]

Tutorial- Upcycled: Men’s shorts to Baby Apron Dress

The sewing storm continues…. I found these men’s shorts at a local thrift store where they have items where you can fill a bag for $1.00. So they only cost me around $0.10. The fabric reminds me of my grandpa’s overalls that he wore as he worked out on the farm which inspired this apron dress for my 9 month old. I added ruffles on the pocket to make it a little more girly. Here is how it was … [Read more...]
