Clean Up and Craigslist!

Been a busy week here on the home front aka… Grandpa and Grandma’s house.  All of my mom’s sisters came into town and finished off the preparations to clean out Grandpa and Grandma’s house to put it on the market in the next couple of months.  There are four large storage rooms in Grandma’s basement.  At the time of her death most were full.  My mom and her sisters cleared … [Read more...]

Upcycled Brass Headboard and Pallet to a Bench Trellis

Upcycled brass headboard and pallet to a bench trellis, now that is a mouthful!! This project brewed on my mind all winter long and once it got warm enough I was able to get it started. Now that we are in summer full swing I am finally getting around to sharing my project. I have the most delicious grapes growing on a arbor outside my back door. Upcycle: Making Chubby Crayons

I have had this project on my mind for years. I finally got around to it!! When I was teaching a few years ago before I had kids we seemed to always be replenishing our crayon bins with new pointy crayons. Crayon nubs seemed to stack up year after year. So here it is the end of the school year and I am sure you are finding your kids bringing home their old school supplies. If you are finding … [Read more...]

Great Garden Experiment: Potato Towers

I have been busy working in the yard. Today was the first day I was bewildered at what to do next. I am not patiently waiting for things to grow and our last frost date to pass so I can finish planting the rest of my garden. One of my projects has been to construct potato towers. There are two ways I have come across. The first way is to use reed mats with a simple wire frame to hold up the mats. … [Read more...]

Since the sweater is felted and has shrunk significantly I wanted to make it into a sweater vest for my niece who is 15. Here are the steps: 1. Cut off the sleeves, leaving a cap sleeve on … [Read more...]

Upcycled Baby Dress to Toddler Skirt Tutorial

I found this cute dress at the Other Mother’s quarter sale. I thought I could make it into a skirt due to stains on the top. It was a quick and simple fix. Stained Baby Dress I trimmed about an inch and a half above the skirt and then turned the fabric under making a waistband, then stitched around to complete it. I used the bottom button of the dress for the waistband in the skirt. Trimmed … [Read more...]

What to do with recycled formula cans.

I moved into my house just over a year ago. I was pregnant, sick and working full time as a special ed preschool teacher. By the time I got home I crashed. I was lucky to cook a meal or unload the dishwasher. Unpacking and organizing fell pretty much to the bottom of my list of survival. So here is a picture of my lazy susan….. Since my baby is on formula and we go through hoards of it, we have a … [Read more...]
