These sunflower seeds were planted a week ago. It is amazing to see how fast the sprout and grow.
When I taught special ed preschool I loved doing a spring unit on gardening. We always planted a few seeds. Sunflower were a favorite because we could plant them on Thursday or Friday and by the time the kids returned on Tuesday mornings we had sprouted plants. Beans are the same way. They grow big quickly.
These seeds were from the bulk food section at my local grocery store. Just make sure you buy raw seeds that are still in their shell. It cost me about $0.15 for a handful of seeds! A super-thrifty fun experiment. I look forward to these plants growing into monster sunflower plants!
