Last week was Baby J’s first birthday. Since I had a cute t-shirt and tutu for Lil’Misses birthday, I wanted to do a little something for her best buddy, Baby J. So I came up with a little ruffle tie with a first birthday hat.
Materials: 2 old t-shirts of coordinating colors, white felt, elastic, new onesie or shirt
I first cut the back off of an old children’s shirt. Then cut ½” strips of the material of varying lengths. I did this with both shirts, but only have pictures of the blue.
I then sewed a straight wide stitch down the middle of the t-shirt strips and left a few inches of thread so I could gather the strips. I then pulled the thread and gathered the strips.
I then cut out a tie shape from the white felt and began to sew the ruffles in an alternating pattern.
For the hat, I took a piece of felt and folded it in a cone shape then stitched. Then folded up the bottom portion. I then added a little ruffle and a little circle with the number one.
Happy Crafting and Happy B-Day Baby J!
